R’s story

R’s story has an international feel with her grandfather being a champion jockey in India for 11 years!  Difficult childhood trying to please a challenging father and a mother who struggled.

At school, although lacking in confidence, showed athletic abilities and spent weekends running after encouragement from a teacher.

Eventually became a foster parent as well as caring for family members.

Now in a better place, strengthened by her faith, seeking good things for others, offering support.

A fighter, a survivor, a provider.

B’s story

B is a Wirral girl from a big family who made her way to becoming a seamstress at 16, making clothes for the wives of famous 70’s footballers.
Accidentally ended up working in psychiatrics not paediatrics, having misread the application form but ends up enjoying the job!

Now finds herself with more time to ‘faff around’ and have a play with stuff. So who knows what might be created and brought into the world. Someone with tales to tell and skills to bring.

A creative maker whirlwind with a heart for people.

Insite

You never know what you might end up accidentally doing!

Marks’ story

Amazing Mark.
Born in Rhos but discovering a need for his own independence, he married in 1996, and now lives in Chester.

Struggles with his wife’s health insecurities didn’t stop them from living. Travelling to places such as Tenerife, Majorca and Lanzarotti. His faith giving him strength and resilience. After loosing his wife of 19 years, and losing further family members in recent times, has struggled with his mental health.

Amazing Mark is still here, studying, and helping others with their own mental health challenges. Being a ‘fertiliser’ in people’s lives, helping them grow and flourish.

Now
Acting at Storyhouse, acting out a poem, going to The Spider Project, Studying the Bible, Helping with food bank deliveries, doing some art at St Peters. Doing wellbeing course and now helping on that course, setting motivational goals.

Amazing Mark.

S’ story

S’s story is about global travel, battling adversity and recovery.

The real adventure of life started when he joined the army and began to explore the world. Facing danger very early in his career.

After retiring he receives a cancer diagnosis. Weekly chemotherapy and radiotherapy follows plus receives prayer from his sister’s church and has a sense that ‘something happened’. The tumor is virtually gone.

Changes lifestyle to be healthier but 3 years later cancer returns. Operation saves his life with the consultant saying ‘you feel like a human worth saving’. Feels blessed to still be here and thankful for the guardian angel of a consultant!

Now serving at a drop in to support others, delivers food for the food bank and shares his own faith with others. Still in the game and making a difference.

Definitely a human worth saving.

Insight

It’s a mystery why some are healed and others aren’t, but I still have faith that it can happen in any way.

Wisdom

With meaning comes purpose and direction.

As we ricochet around life we sometimes find ourselves on the outside and need a little helping hand to bounce us back in, wherever that might come from.

Chris’ story

Chris’ story for me is about an active person cycling, bowling, bread making, laughing, dancing and volunteering.

You might find him at a JLS or Take That concert, and the rumour is, the bloke’s got dance moves!

He’s someone who uses his own birthday to raise money for others, which just about sums him up. He certainly has a great outlook on life, even with the challenges he faces.

My life is all the better for meeting Chris.

Wisdom

Don’t get disheartened, there’s nothing we can’t do.

Saffy’s story

Survivor

Very early traumas, separation from family, reunited in part.
Adopted. Given opportunity.

With adulthood came more challenges but eventually searched for a better way at the end of the tunnel. Feels ‘Life is like an oak tree, what harms you along the way can effect you’ … but should not define you.

Wants to spread the word that ‘it’s ok to admit you have struggles and don’t be ashamed’. Teaching her own family a better way to go. Active, volunteering, playing a part, making a difference, to herself and the ones she loves.

One day at a time.

Insight

When people are young they don’t know any better, they will play with fire and not understand the long term consequences.

Creative response
